🌟 What is Somatic Coaching? 🌟

I’m coming to the end of a six-month training program in somatic coaching and am already noticing how integrating this approach is deepening the impact of my coaching. So, what is it?

Somatic coaching is a powerful, holistic approach to personal and professional growth. It goes beyond traditional coaching methods that tend to focus on talking and thinking, by deeply connecting with the experiences felt in the body.

The term “somatic” comes from the ancient Greek word soma, meaning the body as a whole—not just in a physical sense, but also encompassing our cognitive, emotional, energetic, and spiritual experiences. Somatic coaching recognises that our physical sensations hold insights into our actions, emotions, and thoughts, giving us more choice and understanding over how we behave.

This approach helps us:

  • Access and release stored emotions: Our bodies often hold onto stress, trauma, and unprocessed emotions. Through somatic practices, we can release these blockages and experience greater emotional freedom.
  • Cultivate self-awareness: By tuning into our bodily sensations and movement patterns, we can better understand our unconscious desires and how we have been conditioned to respond to threats and pressures, creating space for intentional change.
  • Enhance resilience: Somatic coaching teaches us how to regulate our nervous system, manage stress, and build inner strength, leading to more resilient and empowered living.
  • Align with your values and purpose: Somatic coaching supports you in taking action that aligns with what matters most to you and how you want to show up in the world, empowering you to live in a way that reflects your deepest values and aspirations.

Whether you’re seeking personal transformation or looking to enhance your leadership abilities, somatic coaching offers a unique pathway to align your mind, body, and spirit, leading to a more authentic and fulfilled life.
