Reflective practice is a creative process where we deliberately and consciously explore and question our experiences and our work practices. It helps us to organise our thoughts and acknowledge our feelings. This helps us to learn from our experiences, supports our development and enables us to adapt what we do.
Reflecting with others can be particularly powerful, giving us new perspectives on what’s happening and how to do things differently. Group reflective practice in our workplace also helps us share learning and solutions, connect with our colleagues, feel supported and understood.
I am an experienced reflective practice facilitator and offer group facilitation online and in-person in the Bristol area. My particular expertise is facilitating reflective practice for groups of leaders as well operational teams in homelessness and youth services. I also provide training in reflective practice facilitation skills and lead reflective supervision sessions for other reflective practice group facilitators.
“I’ve been in two reflective practice groups facilitated by Joanna. In each group she created a safe space to enable reflection and . . . she manages group dynamics very well, ensuring that everyone can contribute equally to stimulate thoughtful discussion which has, in turn, created positive connections for group members. Joanna’s reflective practice facilitation skills are well-developed and excellent.”
“Attending Reflective Practice training with Joanna has been a real highlight of my recent professional development and training experiences. Joanna and her co-trainer guided us through content and application so thoughtfully, providing ample time and space for reflection, clarification and feedback. I felt suitably challenged but also comfortable to engage in the way/s that best suited my learning styles, and consistently engaged over four online sessions. It was a really positive experience that I thoroughly recommend to anyone.”
“I recently completed my reflective practice facilitator training with Joanna and I have to say, it was some of the best and most valuable training I have done for some time. I met some fantastic people, had plenty of space to test learning and gained some knowledge and experience that I not only use in RP sessions, but in many scenarios at work. I have recently started to facilitate my own reflective group and using the skills I learned in Joanna’s training and my initial apprehension quickly turned to enjoyment of the process. I would recommend any organisation looking to step into the world of Reflective Practice to contact Joanna.”
